I am a big fan of punctum plugs.  I had a patient who could not open her eyes.  She was real sensitive to light and miserable from dry eyes.  We talked about options and chose silicone plugs.

She came back with wide eyes, smiles and hugs.  She had never been comfortable like this in her life.

I had a patient in a certain brand of soft contact lenses.  As time went by, her wearing time went down and I saw her several times in pain with cystoid corneal edema.

We decided to try punctum plugs starting with the collagen and eventually inserted silicone plugs in all four lids.  This provided her with enough comfort to wear her lenses over six hours without discomfort.
